It may not have the magic of a Madison Square Garden community outreach, but Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi‘s ongoing American visit culminates in a reception hosted by the Indian National Overseas Congress USA at the Marriott Marquis Hotel, Times Square, New York City on Wednesday evening.
A two-page flier for the event caught our eye for a couple of things.
One, it implores you to ‘join Rahul Gandhi’s crusade to empower the youth, women and farmers of India’.
After Rahul, pride of place in the flier is accorded to Sam Pitroda, chairman, Overseas Congress of the AICC, and Shudh Parkash Singh, national president of the INOC, USA.
There will be cultural performances during the evening, and takeout food will be served, it says.
Admission is free, of course, but only for those who register online and produce a photo ID.
And two, the second page of the flier has a list of those who have presumably toiled to make the member of Parliament from Amethi’s American visit a success.
The list is impressive, and includes a national team, past presidents, an executive committee, board of directors, general counsel, Telangana chapter, co-convenors, Punjab chapter, New York state chapter, Kerala chapter, event committee, INOC Karnataka chapter, Haryana chapter, Gujarat chapter, INOC Canada, INOC Australia and INOC England.
