Dacoits killed professor, looted valuables cash from home in Mankapur

Nagpur News : In a suspected dacoity, a 58-year-old man was assaulted to death in Dr. Ambedkar Society in Mankapur area on Saturday night. Harish Wasnik was a professor in PWS college on Kamptee road.

According to the police information, Wasnik was alone at home while his wife, Vandana and elder son Akshay had gone to their owned pharmacy shop at Sitabuldi. Police told that Wasnik had just returned few hours before from Hyderabad where his yonger had successfully completed his engineering.

Around 9 pm, Akshay and Vandana reached home and were shocked to find Wasnik bleeding and unconscious on floor. He was rushed to Wockhardt hospital but was referred to Mayo hospital where he was declared brought dead.

Police said that Wasnik’s house was ransacked and valuables and cash was stolen from almirahs. Wasnik’s death has triggered tension in Mankapur area. People have blocked roads and blamed police poor patrolling for the incident.
