Just a day after it was confirmed that Priyanka Chopra is the leading lady in Salman Khan starrer Bharat, the leading man and director Ali Abbas Zafar took to social media to give the actress a warm welcome. In his post, Ali, who has worked with PeeCee earlier in Gunday (2014), welcomed the actress to India and back to Bollywood after a successful stint in the west with Baywatch and the two seasons of Quantico. He said, “Swagat hai aapka @priyankachopra #Bharat ki mitti aur hawa ko apka intezaar hai (sic).” But it was Salman’s tweet that made us ROFL.
In his trademark andaaz, the Tiger Zinda Hai star welcomed Priyanka on board Bharat and cheekily reminded her that the film is in Hindi, taking a jibe at her for being away from Bollywood for too long. Salman tweeted, “#Bharat .. welcomes u back home @priyankachopra . See u soon .. By the way humari film Hindi hai 😉 . @atulreellife @aliabbaszafar #Eid2019 (sic).” But the actress who never fails to impress us with her witty statements, had an epic reply for Salman. In her reply, she sais, “UP Bareilly की पली बड़ी हूँ जनाब…. #DesiGirl forever. Very happy to be a part of #Bharat and see all of u on set!! @beingsalmankhan @atulreellife @aliabbaszafar #Eid2019 (sic).”
Bharat is slated for an Eid 2019 release and is an official adaptation of Korean film Ode To My Father. The film’s prep has already started in London and then move to Spain, Poland, Portugal, and Malta.
