New Delhi: Pranab Mukherjee is not seeking a second term as President of India. This is evident from the fact that from today onwards, he will pose for group photographs with the 1800-strong staff members of the President’s Secretariat. The staff includes both civilian and armed forces serving the President and guarding the Rashtrapati Bhavan.
The concept of a group photo is old. Every president at the time of demitting office poses for a group photo, as a memento one for the staff member to put it up on social media like Facebook or Twitter or just a keepsake at home. Since the drill began of having 24 groups take photos in the forecourt of Rashtrapati Bhavan, the staff has begun whispering, ‘saab ko doosra term nahi milega. Sir will not get second term.”
Mukherjee, 80, completes his term next July, and according to the Indian Express is already sorting out his papers and gifts presented to him during his presidentship.
