Nagpur: The President of India, Droupadi Murmu, attended and addressed the convocation ceremony of All India Institute of Medical Sciences Nagpur on Tuesday, emphasizing that compassion and integrity remain at the heart of medical practice despite rapid technological advancements.
Addressing graduating students, President Murmu said that medicine is not just a profession but a path of service to humanity. She highlighted that while doctors treat illnesses, they also provide hope and emotional strength to patients and their families, especially during challenging situations.

The President noted that over the past decade, the Government of India has taken major steps to strengthen healthcare infrastructure, including the expansion of AIIMS institutions across the country. She praised AIIMS Nagpur for quickly emerging as a leading center for medical education, research, and healthcare services.
Highlighting the evolving healthcare landscape, she encouraged young doctors to embrace innovation, continuous learning, and research, while maintaining strong ethical values. She also pointed out the importance of using modern technology to bridge the gap between rural and urban healthcare access.
President Murmu underscored that doctors hold a position of immense trust in society and must always prioritize the well-being of their patients. She urged medical professionals to uphold this responsibility with dedication and compassion.
Concluding her address, she expressed confidence that the graduating students would contribute meaningfully to society and play a vital role in building a healthier nation, aligned with the vision of a developed India by the centenary of independence.
