Pravin Togadia Breaks Down, Claims Plan Being Made to Kill Him in Encounter

Ahmedabad: Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) chief Pravin Togadia, who was found in an unconscious state from Kotarpur in Ahmedabad, on Tuesday broke down while making sensational claims. Addressing a press conference, Pravin Togadia said he was being harassed by the central government and plan was being made to kill him in an encounter.

“I am being targeted for a decade old case and there is an attempt to suppress my voice. Rajasthan Police team came to arrest me. Someone told me that a plan was being made to kill me in an encounter,” Pravin Togadia told media. “Ram Mandir, a law on cow slaughter and welfare schemes for farmers are the issues that I have spoken about. These are attempts to silence my voice,” he added.

The VHP leader, a Z-plus category protectee, went “missing” after Rajasthan Police came calling with an arrest warrant on Monday. He was later was found lying unconscious at Shahi Baug in Ahmedabad. He was admitted to Chandramani Hospital around 9:20 pm and later his condition was stated to be stable, the police said.

Earlier, the Ahmedabad Crime Branch said it had constituted a special team to look for Pravin Togadia who went missing amid allegations that the Rajasthan Police took him away. The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), the umbrella body of all saffron outfits, in a one-line statement also expressed concern over the “goings-on around Togadia”.
