Nagpur: City’s senior journalist Pradeep Maitra has been elected as the President of Maharashtra Union of Working Journalists for the two year term during 2017-2019. The election was held in MLA hostel here. Maitra made a major sweep with 54 of the total 64 votes polled in his favour. He competitor Sunil Deshpande could bag only 10 votes.

Maitra will be replacing the outgoing president Yadu Joshi who congratulated him for the success and offered a bouquet as a token of good luck ahead.

Maitra was apparently confident of the satisfactory term ahead, as he was overwhelmed with a strong vote count in his kitty.

The electorial procedure was monitored by senior journalist Brahmashankar Tripathi.
