Practise ethically and serve the needy: Bawankule

IMG_7019Nagpur: Spandan-2015, the Annual Magazine of GMC Nagpur, was inaugurated at the hands of Minister of Energy- Govt. Of Maharashtra and Nagpur’s Guardian Minister, Chandrashekhar Bawankule on 12th September, Saturday. The Chief Guest for the Programme was the Mayor of Nagpur city, Praveen Datke. Dr. Milind Mane, MLA Nagpur North, was the Guest of Honour. While, the proceedings were chaired by Dr. Abhimanyu Niswade, Dean, GMCH Nagpur.

The programme began with lighting of the traditional lamp. Then the guests were welcomed by the Spandan team. Spandan 2015 President, Harkishan Mamtani, in his introductory speech, described the various details of the magazine. With special focus on the creativity of the students and their achievements, the annual magazine also carries the details about various recent researches in the field of medicine. He also stressed on the importance of team work by quoting a very famous quote from Rahul Dravid and thanked everyone for their support.

Spandan 2015 team has received letters conveying best wishes from President of India, Pranab Mukherjee; Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi; Union Minister of Transport, Nitin Gadkari; and Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Devendra Fadnavis.

Chief Inaugurator Chandrashekhar Bawankule, while addressing the budding doctors, asked them to practise ethically and serve the needy. According to him, if the Government spends so much on their education, then it is their moral responsibility to reserve 20 per cent of the beds for the BPL population. He also asked them to have rate cards displayed outside their clinics. Dr. Milind Mane recalled his days of medical education and shared various experiences, and also stressed on the fact that they should not leave the country after completing their education. The Officer In Charge of Spandan, Dr. Meena Mishra (Bajpayi), highlighted the various achievements of Spandan- 2015 and also acknowledged the college administration and the team members for the same. In his speech, Dr. Abhimanyu Niswade, described the various upcoming projects in GMC Nagpur, prominent among which was the High Tech Trauma Center.

Spandan Navratna Awards were handed over to the winners by Guardian Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule. The programme was hosted by Nikhil Dhimole and Mahak Sipani. In the end, General Secretary Rupesh Bansod proposed the Vote of Thanks. Vipin Khadse, Darshan Tatia, Prashant Telharkar, Juhi Kapadia, Aishwarya Shah, Karishma Bhade, Asma Azad and others worked hard for the success of the programme.
