Nagpur:
Water supply in almost 60 per cent city areas especially from West, Central, South and North Nagpur remained affected on Sunday, May 14, 2017 following a major power failure that occurred at Navegaon Khairi raw water pumping station Head Works, located at Navegaon Khari, around 45 km from Nagpur on Sunday since 10 am.

The water supply in these areas especially from West, Central, South and North Nagpur to remain affected on May 15 (Monday) till the technical snag (power failure) fault is rectified by Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL).

The raw water pumping station at Navegaon -Khairy Headworks pumps water to the major water treatment plants in city like Pench –IV WTP at Godhani and Pench-1, Pench-2, Pench-3 & Old Gorewada WTP through Gorewada Lake.

Due to Electrical technical snag on the overhead HT electrical lines there is no power at Navegaon-Khairy Headworks since 10 am on 14.05.2017.

Though the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) maintenance & repair team is patrolling to identify &rectify the electrical fault, but till writing of this report they were yet to find any leads.

This major power failure has resulted in complete clear water pumping shutdown from Pench-IV WTP at Godhani .

Further, as the water level in the GorewadaLake is already low i.e @ 313.31m the Pench-II WTP is also receiving less raw water by gravitational force from GorewadaLake for treatment.

This pumping shutdown due to Electrical failure from MSEDCL side has resulted in low & restricted water pressure supply during 14th May 14, 2017 evening in the ESR command areas of Bezonbagh , Nara, Nari Jaripatka, Dhantoli , Mhalghi Nagar , Omkar Nagar I & II ESR’s and Civil lines &Sreenagar DT.

Water Supply may also remain affected on May 15 are :Bezonbagh ESR, Nara ESR, Nari ESR, Jaripatka ESR, Dhantoli ESR, Mhalghi Nagar ESR, Omkar Nagar I & II ESR’s, Civil lines &Sreenagar DT. On May 15, these areas will not receive any water till the fault is rectified by MSEDCL.

Following this power failure Pench-II WTP at Gorewadais also forced to operate partially due to less than required raw water from Gorewadalake.

Due to this the consumers residing in areas of Boriyapura feeder mains , Pandey layout feeder mains and ESR’s of Laxmi Nagar, Gayatri Nagar, Ramnaagar, TakliSim, Jaitala, Khamla, Chinchbhavan, Pratap Nagar , Sitabuldi Fort I & II ESR Command areas will also remain affected on May 15 and will receive very low pressure and restricted water supply.
