Police foil yet another dacoity plan, arrest five members of gang, recover arms & other stuff

Nagpur News: Police foiled yet another dacoity bid and arrested 5 members of a gang, all under the age of 21 years. One member succeeded in escaping the dragnet. Police have recovered arms and other material the gang was planning to use during dacoity.

According to police, the Sakkardara cops received a tip off at about 0015-0145 hours of Saturday that some youths were found hiding in the dark at a ground in front of Provident Fund Office and their activities were suspicious. A team of policemen immediately rushed to the spot and surrounded the gang members. When confronted the gang tried to escape taking advantage of darkness but before they could succeed the cops pounced and caught them. After a frisking, police recovered two sharp-edged knives, a sword, chili powder packet, sticks, rope, an Activa (MH-31/CY 3087), a Pleasure moped (MH-40/AA 5069) and five cell phones of different companies collectively worth Rs 48660. The material recovered indicated the gang was planning the dacoity to the deadly effect.

The gang members have been identified as Shubham Ashok Shinde (20), resident of Somwari Quarters, Golu Sudesh Lihitkar (19), resident of Galli No 1, Raghuji Nagar, Rakesh Ramesh Wankhede (21), resident of Plot No. 449, Nandanvan Slums, Shubham Rajesh Tidke (20), resident of Somwari Quarters, Vaibhav Dilip Jamgade (21), resident of Somwari Quarters, Nagpur. The absconding gang member has not been identified.

Five members of the gang have been arrested under Sections 399 of IPC, Sub Sections 4+25 of Arms Act and Section 135 of Mumbai Police Act. PSI Wagh is probing the matter further.
