Police constable caught for taking Rs 200 as bribe

Copy of Anil PendamNagpur: A police constable, named Anil Pundalik Pendam (Badge No. 2584), ages 40 years, belonging to Tahsil police station, Nagpur city, but posted on court duty, was caught by ACB for taking a bribe of Rs 200 from an autorickshaw operator.

According to a press note issued by police department, an auto-operator was challaned for driving autorickshaw under the influence of liquor under the jurisdiction of Tahsil police station, and a case was to be filed against him before the magistrate of a motor vehicle court, Nagpur.

As the autorickshaw operator, upon being informed by police to appear before the court, contacted police constable Anil Pendam of tahsil police, who was then posted on court duty, and perhaps wanted to hush up the case, for which the police constable demanded Rs 200 in addition to the amount of fine.

The autorickshaw operator unwilling to pay the bribe lodged a complaint with ACB against the constable.

The ACB personnel then laid a trap to nab the constable and thus succeeded in nabbing him red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 200 from the complainant.

The ACB action was executed under the guidance of SP Rajiv Jain and those who participated in the plan included PI Yuvraj Patki, PHCs Dilip Jadhav and Dharmendra Kale, PCs Rajendra Jadhav and Komal Gujar.

ACB office, Nagpur region appeals to the citizens that they should immediately inform the ACB in case any one demands any bribe from them in the name of any government official or employee for any work.
