Poet Sandeep Sharma, who arrived in city for Kavi Sammelan, robbed by 3 goons at knife point

Nagpur: The famous poet Sandeep Sharma would never forget his visit to the Orange City as he was greeted in a dreadful manner on his arrival for participating in Kavi Sammelan. The satirical poet Sandeep Sharma reached Nagpur by a train on Tuesday morning. The organisers of Kavi Sammelan had booked a room at a hotel near Railway Station. Since the hotel was very near, the poet decided to go to the hotel walking. This decision of his, however, proved costly for him.

As Sharma came out of Station from the East Gate, three unidentified goons accosted him and snatched around Rs 6000 cash forcibly at knife point. In the scuffle with the robbers, Sharma’s costly mobile phone fell on the road and got damaged. After robbing the poet, the three goons vanished from the scene.

Renowned for his satirical poetry, Sandeep Sharma had come to Orange City for taking part in a Kavi Sammelan being organised at Gandhibagh Garden by Lotus Cultural and Sports Association on Tuesday. The senior BJP Corporator Dayashankar Tiwari organises Kavi Sammelan every year to mark birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee on December 25. The event is participated by poets from across the country.
