Nagpur: In view of the expected surge in passenger movement during the summer travel season, railway authorities have temporarily restricted the sale of platform tickets at Nagpur Railway Station from April 10 to May 30.
Officials said the decision has been taken primarily due to the temporary closure of Platform No. 2, where concourse development work is currently underway. The restriction aims to regulate crowd movement within the station premises and ensure smoother passenger flow during the peak travel period.
However, railway authorities clarified that platform tickets will still be issued in genuine and essential cases. These include attendants accompanying senior citizens, sick passengers, children, illiterate travellers, and women who require assistance while boarding or alighting from trains.
Describing the step as a precautionary measure, officials said the restriction is intended to prevent overcrowding and maintain safety at the busy station during the summer rush.
To avoid inconvenience and confusion among passengers, notices regarding the temporary restriction will be prominently displayed in Hindi and Marathi across the station premises.
Railway staff have also been instructed to clearly inform passengers about the purpose of the restriction and ensure that those genuinely requiring assistance are provided necessary support.
