Nagpur: Close on the heels of Ganeshpeth cops busting an arms racket being run from a tea stall in Santra Market area, Kotwali police recovered a country-made pistol and three live cartridges from two motorcycle-borne goons on Friday.

The Kotwali police had received a secret information that the two history-sheeters namely Sushil Harichandra Vase, aged 27, resident of Yadav Nagar and Rafia Razzak Sheikh, aged 30, resident of Sangarsha Nagar, were coming to Chitnis Park area for delivering the country-made pistol and live cartridges to a dummy customer deployed by cops themselves. Acting on the information, a team of cops laid a trap at the place and waited for the accused. Around 5.30 pm, the two accused arrived on a motorcycle (Mh-31/BM 7519) and handed over the arms to the dummy customer. As soon as the “deal” took place, the waiting policemen caught the two accused red-handed.

One of the accused Sushil Vase is facing offences of extortion and Arms Act registered at Yashodhara Nagar Police Station. Further investigations are on to get leads about involvement of other persons if any and the network of illegal arms.

The action was initiated under the directives of DCP Zone 3 M Rajkumar, ACP Kotwali Dhumal, PI Kaushal Tijare by Kotwali DB Squad.
