Nagpur: NCP leader Ajit Pawar on Thursday demanded resignation of Education Minister Vinod Tawde over late declaration of results by Mumbai University. Resignation of Vice Chancellor will not serve the purpose. Tawde should also quit, he demanded.

Speaking on the Call Attention Motion brought in the Legislative Assembly on Thursday, Ajit Pawar put this demand. The discussion in the House was held after BJP member Atul Bhatkhelkar raised the issue through a Call Attention. The NCP leader said that several results of Mumbai University got delayed due to online valuation. The delayed results put many students in the dock as they could suffer academic loss. Moreover, injustice has been heaped on the student following misplacement of their answer papers. The Vice Chancellor was held guilty in this matter but what about Education Minister and his deputy. They should also be held guilty. Like the Vice Chancellor who was sent home, the ministers should also be shown the door, Pawar demanded.

The company doing the online valuation has accused the Mumbai University of running shabby affairs. The University’s contractor should have appointed a capable company for online valuation of answer papers, Pawar said.

In his reply, Tawde said that the Vice Chancellor was asked to resign only after departmental enquiry of the matter.

In future also, strict action will be taken against the guilty, the Education Minister assured the House.
