Patanjali Food Park Firing: 1 killed, Baba Ramdev’s brother arrested

The brother of Ramdev was arrested on Wednesday after a trucker was allegedly killed in clashes between employees of a food park run by the yoga guru and members of a transport union in Uttarakhand’s Haridwar, police said.

The deceased has been identified as Daljeet Singh who was into transportation business.

Ramdev’s brother Ram Bharat has been arrested and few others have been detained for questioning, Haridwar Senior Superintendent of Police Sweety Agrawal said.

“Ram Bharat has been charged with instigating the clash. He has been arrested and few others have been detained for questioning,” Ms Agrawal said. An FIR has been registered in Haridwar’s Pathri police station.

Ms. Agarwal said the incident occurred because of differences between the Patanjali administration and the members of the local truck union.

“While the local truck union members wanted transportation jobs for themselves, the administration of Patanjali Food and Herbal Park said the jobs would be given to the transportation firm, which would offer services at cheaper rates. This was the reason behind the clash,” Ms Agarwal said.
