Nagpur: Panic gripped visitors at Sitabuldi’s Fortune Mall after a lift suddenly malfunctioned and got stuck midway, trapping around five to six people inside.
Eyewitnesses reported that those trapped inside the lift began experiencing breathing difficulties due to suffocation as time passed. Despite repeated pleas for help, the mall management allegedly failed to respond promptly or take immediate action.
It is reported that requests were made to break the glass of the lift to rescue those inside, but initial calls for intervention were ignored. The situation worsened as the condition of those trapped began to deteriorate.
Following strong protests by people present outside, the mall administration finally acted, and the lift glass was broken to rescue the trapped individuals. All were eventually brought out safely.
The incident has raised serious questions about safety measures, emergency response systems, and preparedness at the mall. Local citizens have expressed anger over the alleged negligence and demanded strict action against those responsible.
