Palliative Care Unit for Patients Living with Cancer

Palliative CareNagpur: On this occasion a new venture, the ‘Palliative Care Unit’ was inaugurated at the hands of Chief Minister of Maharashtra Devendra Fadnavis in presence of Central Cabinet Minister of Transport, Roadways & Shipping Nitin Gadkari and Chairman of VSPM AHE Ranjeet Deshmukh, Treasurer Dr. Secretary Ashish Deshmukh (MLA), Dean of NKPSIMS Dr. Amol Deshmukh, and other Administrative and Teaching Staff of various VSPMs Institutions.

This Palliative Care Unit especially for cancer patients has started functioning in NKPSIMS, Digdoh Hills, Nagpur with bi-weekly Out Patient Department on every Mondays & Thursdays from 12.00 Noon to 2.00 p.m. and also facilities for hospitalization of patients in need of Palliative Care are available.

This unit is working under the guidance of Dean, NKPSIMS&LMH Dr. Kajal Mitra, Coordinator Dr. Prabhat Nichkaode (Associate Professor Surgery Department).

The functioning unit is looked after by Dr. Ravindra Kshirsagar (Lecturer, Medicine Department) and Nursing Supervision is done by Ranju Tondre. Both of them are trained in Palliative Care at TIPS (Trivundrum Institute of Palliative Care), Trivandrum.
