Nagpur: The remote picture of Nagpur rural is not so glossy in terms of crime against women as an incident happened in village Kandri, Ramtek highlighted the limit of brutality and insanity. A middle aged man named Mahesh Rautalne under the influence of lust, dealt out all cruelties to the 13-year-old girl, while he tried to force himself upon her. The girl who lost her two fingers in an attempt to free herself, is battling for her life at Mayo Hospital. The girl was going to relieve her herself when the incident happened.
The girl too frightened and is not able to speak. She has not even drunk water from last two days and is in a state of shock. Meanwhile, the chairman of the state women’s commission Vijaya Rahatkar and SP (Rural) Anant Rokde visited the hospital and enquired about the victim’s health. They assured the family members of the girl that the accussed Mahesh Rautalne will not be spared and strict punishment will be given to him.
The Ramtek police arrested the accused within two hours of the incident. A case under sections of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) was slapped on the accused. He was produced before sessions court on Saturday itself and the court ordered his PCR till May 27.
Sources in police informed that the accused is a native of Chhindwara and has already been in prison for killing a woman years back. He was sentenced to life imprisonment. After serving his jail sentence, he was working as labourer at Kandri from last two years with his wife. According to information, his wife has gone Chhindwara for delivery from last three months, afterwhich his ill eyes fell on the victim.
