Nagpur: Continuing the crackdown on illegal orchestras in beer bars, the DCP (Headquarters) Shweta Khedkar has ordered cancellation of licence of orchestra being operated at high-profile Hotel Ace Inn (Ace Pub) situated at Plot No. 4/5, Hingna Wadi Road, under MIDC police jurisdiction. The hotel is also called Ace Digitronics Pvt Ltd (Ace Pub).

The Ace Pub is reportedly owned by Baldeo Mohanlal Hirani. The DCP Khedkar in her letter sent to Hirani stated that the licence of ghazal and orchestra at Ace Digitronics Pvt Ltd was ordered to be renewed till December 31, 2018.

However, the inspection of the Pub revealed that the DCP Zone 1 and Police Inspector of MIDC Police Station had raised objections due to various reasons. Action against the hotel was initiated under Section 33 of the IPC read with Sections 131, 110, 112, 117 of Mumbai Police Act by the MIDC police.

Apart from the police action, an offence under Section 65(E) of Maharashtra Prohibition Act was registered against the Ace Pub in 2017. Anti-social elements frequently visited the Pub and planned crimes.

The song and ghazal items at orchestra frequently sparked skirmishes among the customers. Considering all these dubious facts, it has been decided to cancel licence of the orchestra being run at Hotel Ace Inn with immediate effect, the letter of DCP Khedkar said.
