Nagpur: In yet another crackdown against the increasing incidents of vehicle lifting and robberies, the Sitabuldi police arrested three persons and solved 20 of such incidents. Cops have also recovered nine two-wheelers, five number plates of the stolen vehicles and scrap of two vehicles collectively worth Rs 4.59 lakh from their possession.

The name of the accused were given as Aniket Jagdish Badode (19), a resident of Nandanvan, Sheik Imran Husain (30), a resident of Hudkeshwar and Shashim Vinayak Ukey (19), a resident of Wathoda road.

Addressing the press conference on Monday, DCP Zone 2, Chinmay Pandit informed the media persons that accused Aniket and Shashim would commit crime to match-up high class lifestyle. The duo would rent and sell vehicles to their friends and also sold vehicle’s scrap to accused Sheik.

On how police to make a breakthrough in this case, DCP further asserted, “Sitabuldi cops have launched special drives to curb the increased activities of vehicle theft and chain snatching. During the same on May 23, the sleuths of Sitabuldi police received a tip-off about the accused duo that would lift vehicles from Alankar Square premises. Following which cops laid trap and caught accused Aniket and Shashim from Dhantoli Ground. During the interrogation the duo revealed everything and also informed cops that they would take assistant of Sheik to settle stolen vehicles. Following which cops also detained him,” added the DCP.

Cops have booked accused trio under relevant Sections of the IPC and investigating further.

Commissioner of Police Dr Bhushankumar Upadhyay, DCP Zone 2 Chinnmay Pandit and ACP Zone 2 Rajendra Boravake supervised the arrest drive.

Sitabuldi PI Jagvendrasingh Rajput, API P M Kale, constables Jaipal Rathod, Chandrashekar Gautam, Pankaj Ramteke and Pankaj Bagde played key role in this drive.
