Operation SmileNagpur: The ‘Operation Smile,’ a pioneering drive initiated by Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), New Delhi, to trace the missing kids across the country, literally brought smiles on the faces of 15-year old boy and his near and dear ones. The boy, Atif Ali, son of Abdul Hanif, resident of Kasabpura, Nalsahab Road, Mominpura, Nagpur, left home and went missing a few days back. All efforts by relatives failed to bear fruits as Atif could not be located. Finally, an FIR (7/16) under Section 363 was filed at Tehsil Police Station.

On receiving the missing complaint, a team of Tehsil police, headed by Police Inspector Santosh Khandekar, mounted a massive search under ‘Operation Smile’ to trace the missing Atif. Concerted efforts by cops and others bore fruits as Atif was traced out at ML Canteen in Mominpura area. The police team immediately rushed to the spot and took custody of Atif. He was taken to Police Station for a formal investigation and later reunited with his mother Raziya Begum to the relief of everyone.

Other team members of ‘Operation Smile’ include Lady PSI V D Wadaskar, Police Constable Anil Dubey and Police Mitra Haji M Atif Patel who played a major role in tracing the missing boy.
