A whopping 82% respondents, who took part in our online poll, have felt that the BJP was responsible for politicising the surgical strikes carried out across the LoC on 29 September.

The purpose behind launching this online poll by jantakareporter.com was to seek public opinion on the raging debate over attempts by political parties to politicise what was essentially a military exercise.

More than 2,600 people took part in the poll, which remained on our website for nearly 24 hours.

2,182 people (82%) felt that BJP’s decision to plaster posters bearing the photos of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar smacked of the party’s desperation to extract electoral mileage in Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Goa.

Only 303 people (11%) blamed Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal for his video message asking Modi to respond to Pakistan’s propoganda claiming the surgical strikes never took place.

181 users (7%) believed that Congress was politicising the matter after its Mumbai-based spokesperson Sanjay Nirupam reportedly termed surgical strikes fake.

Our poll was open to everyone and we have posted the link on innumerable times for the exercise to be as inclusive and engaging as possible.
