Nagpur: On July 12, 2015 at around 4 pm, the victim identified as Damodhar Uttam Chaudhari aged 22 years and a resident of Sadak Arjuni, Muhapar Tehsil, Gondia District lodged a complaint with the police that Tukaram Thakre a resident of H M Shiskak Colony, Raut Nagar received a missed call on July 12, 2015.
The accused identified as Saddam Hafiz Baig aged 22 years and a resident of Raut Nagar, Nandanwan area and the victim spoke on the mobile phone and soon the talk led to both the accused and the victim exchanging vulgar expletives and abuses. The accused dared the victim to remain standing where he was and that he will meet him face to face. The accused then left his house with a sword.
Near the Pan kiosk situated in Raut Nagar, Nandanvan area, the accused attempted to kill the victim by hitting the sword on his neck. However, the victim showed bravery and stopped the sword attack on his neck with his bare hands.
On the basis of the complaint lodged by the victim, Police Sub Inspector Thakur of the Nandanvan Police Station registered a case under sections 307 and sub-sections 4+25 of Indian Penal Code against the accused and arrested the accused Saddam Hafiz Baig.
