One killed, three injured in freak mishap at Nagpur-Bhandara Highway

In a freak accident, a youth was killed while three others, including the ‘killer’ truck driver, were injured seriously on Nagpur Bhandara Highway No. 6 on Thursday. The injured have been admitted to Indira Gandhi Government Medical College and Hospital (IGGMCH) for treatment while the deceased’s body has been sent for autopsy.

The deceased has been identified as Anand Naik (22), a resident of Dighepar, Gondia while injured have been identified as Chhotu Sadashiv Pithale (43), a resident of Besa Road, Kalpataru Nagar, Hudkeawar; Suraj Ramchandra Shivaruke (19), a resident of Bid, Shivni, Kamptee and Harbansingh Ambarsingh Rizan (37), a resident of Nari, Dixit Nagar.

Police informed that Chhotu, Anand (JCB co driver) and Suraj (JCB driver) parked a JCB machine (MH 22 G 2339) near Nagpur Bhandara Highway No. 6 on Thursday night after it stopped working. Meanwhile, a speeding truck (MH 31 CB 4863) dashed into the parked JCB, thus, killed Anand on the spot and seriously injuring self along with Chhotu and Suraj. The nearby commuters informed Kalamna police about the incidence who reached the spot immediately.

Cops rushed the injured to IGGMCH and sent the body for post mortem after performing panchanama. Cops registered an offence under Sections 279, 337, 338 and 304 (a) with sub section 184 of the Motor Vehicle Act and arrested the truck driver.
