Nagpur: HRD Forum of Vidarbha Industries Association organised one day workshop on “LABOUR LAWS” at VIA Auditorium, Nagpur.
Renowned speaker Sachin Panchabhai, Asstt Professor of Dr. Ambedkar Institute of Management Studies & Research Nagpur having vast experience in the field of industry as well as teaching covered sessions on Labour Laws and its role & importance.
He briefed about the Labour Law and said the Indian Constitution provides basis of laws to regulate the employment in India. These laws are collectively known as the Labour Laws or the Industrial Laws. The labour laws widely covers Industrial Relations; Health & Safety and Standards which the employers. With the advent of globalization the protective nature of these laws proved inadequate for the Indian industry to remain competitive as it was very rigid and did not allow the Indian manufacturers to compete in the global market. Post liberalization the laws favored the industrialists i.e. decentralization the collective bargaining in almost all the sectors. Training and skill development are seen as an important part of work place, etc.
The Session started with the interaction on present labour scenario & covered important provisions related to various Labour Legislations. He also covered the important among them are Factories Act; Maharashtra Shop & Establishment Act; Industrial Employment (Standing Order) Act; Industrial Dispute Act; Contract Labour (Regulation & Abolition) Act.
In the second session, Panchabhai also covered important provisions of Provident Funds, Gratuity, ESIC Acts, Workmen’s Compensation Act, Maternity Benefit Act. etc. He also guided the participants about how to improving Interpersonal Relationship in the organisations or at work places which is very important for employees, important provisions on Laws relating to wages, etc. which was followed by Q&A.
He further said for smooth functioning of any industrial unit and gaining thorough knowledge on the various Labour Rules is a must for HR/IR Managers. Many HR Professionals, Plant Heads Consultants and representatives of industries were attended the program i.e. CEAT, Eros Group, SMS Group, Mecgale Pneumatics Pvt. Ltd, Mahalaxmi TMT Pvt. Ltd., Aerocom Cushions Pvt Ltd., DRA Consultants Ltd.
Earlier, Omprakash Bagdia, Vice President – VIA welcomed the guest speaker with floral bouquet. Prof Ashit Sinha, Ex-Vice President – VIA in his welcome address informed about importance of Labour Laws, Social Security for any industry and also proposed a formal vote of thanks at the end of the program.
