Old man defrauds Bank of Maharashtra to the tune of Rs 3 lakh

Nagpur:
A 74-year old man defrauded Bank of Maharashtra to the tune of Rs 3 lakh through the Bank’s Unified Payment Interface (UPI) App.

The accused has been identified as Deepak Ashok Dumbre (74), resident of Mahesh Nagar, Vathoda Ring Road, Nandanvan. The aged accused, knowing fully well that no amount is balance in his account 60270361211 in Bank of Maharashtra, Wardhaman Nagar Branch, used his registered mobile phone number and email and transferred Rs 1 lakh and Rs 2 lakh in two other accounts 50100009761891 and 1434000108196931 respectively through Bank’s UPI App. As the fraud came to notice of the Bank, the Branch Manager R Selu Pratap (41), registered a case with Lakadganj police in this regard.

PSI H S Thorat has booked the accused Deepak Dumbre under Sections 419, 420 of the IPC read with Sub-Section 66(C) of IT Act. Further probe is on.
