Tehsil police have booked office-bearers of 8 education societies on the charges of defrauding Maharashtra Government to the tune of over Rs 1 crore on account of group insurance and scholarships of students.

According to police, the accused Chandrashekhar Prabhakar Bhisikar, resident of Golibar Chowk, Parate Education Society, SB Bahuuddeshiya Mahila Mandal, Kiran Bahuuddeshiya Mahila Mandal, Susanskar Bahuuddeshiya Mahila Mandal, Divya Mahila Sanstha, Sanskar Mahila Mandal, Maharashtra Rajya Mahila Sanstha, and Care Cultural Association for Sarla Education and Rural Education connived with each other. The accused, from January 2010 to March 2013, availed Group Insurance from Bhisikar’s Divya Finance office through a Nodal Agency and subsequently received an amount Rs 47,44,600 towards scholarships under Shiksha Sahayog Yojana.
