Dr. Deepak Dongre, Convener- OCHRI Quality Division has successfully cleared
the National Quality Assurance Standards (NQAS) External Assessors Exam held by National
Health Systems Resource Centre, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. Of India. Out of
46 successful candidates across India, he is the only one representing Maharashtra, who has cleared
this prestigious exam. With this achievement, Dr. Deepak Dongre is included in select 325 group of
NQAS External Assessors at national level. He will be assessing public health facilities for National
Quality Assurance Standards in all the states of India except Maharashtra.
National Quality Assurance Standards have been developed keeping in the specific requirements for
public health facilities as well global best practices. These standards are International Society for
Quality in Healthcare (ISQUA) accredited and meets global benchmarks in terms of
comprehensiveness, objectivity, evidence and rigour of development. NQAS Assessors are being
carefully chosen from the pool of Hospital Superintendents, Quality Managers, Matrons & Nursing
Superintendents, Health Administrators, Nodal officers for Quality Assurance in State health
departments across the country. Public Health facilities are required to follow step wise process of
baseline assessment, internal assessment, gap closure and external assessment for fulfilling the
criteria laid down for State & National level accreditation.
Dr. Anup Marar- Director, OCHRI congratulated him and stated that, “Orange City Hospital &

On this occasion Dr. Usha Nair, Director- Ravi Nair Hospitals Private Limited told that, “Good

international standards, through process of self and external assessment.” She further assured to
provide know-how to public healthcare facilities on implementation of nationalquality standards.
Dr. Vidya Nair, Director (Quality) -RNHPL stated that, “Quality Accreditation of hospitals
stimulates continuous improvement and enables them in demonstrating commitment to quality
care. It raises community confidence in the services provided by the hospitals. It also provides
opportunity to healthcare unit to benchmark with the best.”
Dr. Deepak Dongre expressed his heartfelt thanks to NHSRC faculties and OCHRI
management for motivating him to excel in the field of Quality management. Shri. Udaybhaskar
