Nagpur News: The Rashtrasant Tukdoji Maharaj Nagpur University has finally decided to refund the excess examination fees recovered from students under the new fee structure, about 10 months back. The decision was taken in a meeting of the Management Council of the university on Tuesday.

The two member committee, which was constituted to look into the issue tabled its report during the meeting. The committee recommended that the excess fees that had been recovered should be returned. It may be noted here that the university administration had raised the examination fees for traditional courses by 10 per cent and fees for non traditional courses by 20 per cent, last year. The reason given by the administration was a decision of the Management Council taken in the year 2009.

Student organisations had opposed the decision vehemently. Owing to this the university administration had stayed the decision temporarily. However, many students had submitted the examination fees by the time the stay was imposed. This amount was near about ` 3 lakh. Students had demanded that the excess amount recovered by the university should be refunded. But the administration had squashed the demand. After the issue was raised a few times in the meeting of Management Council, a two member committee was constituted.
