Salman Khan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan
It’s been years since we saw Salman Khan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in the same frame. But something on this front is set to happen soon. No, they aren’t doing any project together. Rather they are going to share the same box office weekend, if not screen next year. Come Eid 2018 and Bollywood will see one of the year’s biggest clashes – Race 3 and Fanney Khan.

Just a day after Salman Khan’s Race 3 went on floors on November 9, the makers of Aishwarya’s Fanney Khan have announced that their film will open on June 15, 2018, the Eid weekend which was locked for Race 3 much before. Trade analyst Girish Johar also confirmed the news over a tweet. “More #FanneyKhan to release on Eid 2018 #15June2018 @AnilKapoor #AishwaryaRaiBachchan @RajkummarRao @kriarj @RakeyshOmMehra @ROMPPictures @TSeries #FanneyKhanEid2018” he wrote.

Race 3 is the third film in the action franchise. While the previous ones had Saif Ali Khan as the main lead, Salman has replaced him in the third outing. Even Remo D’Souza has taken over director duo Abbas-Mustan in the latest film. Race 3’s new cast also includes Bobby Deol, Jacqueline Fernandez, Daisy Shah, Freddy Daruwala and Saqib Saleem.

Fanney Khan, on the other hand, has Anil Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao, apart from Aishwarya. It is the official Indian remake of the Oscar nominated 2000 Dutch film Everybody’s Famous. Some reports claim that Anil might also make an appearance in Race 3, reprising his role of Robert D’Costa aka R.D. If that happens, he will be the only connecting thread between both the clashing films.

Directed by Atul Manjrekar, Fanney Khan is an original and hilarious comedy about how far some people are willing to go for fame. Producer Prernaa Arora of KriArj Entertainment said in a statement, “We are happy to announce that Fanney Khan is coming to wish audiences Eid Mubarak on the 15th June next year. The film is a beautiful slice of life story that comes straight from the heart and will have audiences thoroughly entertained.”

This will be the first time that Salman and Aishwarya will clash at the box office. The two, who go back in time, have starred opposite each other in only one film till date – Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, apart from making cameos in each other’s movies Dhai Akshar Prem Ke and Hum Tumhare Hain Sanam. Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam not just became a blockbuster but also sparked their romance, one of the most popular ones in Bollywood till now.

It however couldn’t stand the test of time and the two parted ways soon. The two biggies have ever since not just refrained from signing films together, but even avoided each other on public platforms.
