Now, degrees to carry photos, signatures of students to totally eliminate fake ones

The decision was taken in the meeting of BoE held on Tuesday. The BoE move will totally curb any chances of preparing fake degrees thus providing the much needed credibility and transparency.

Nagpur News: In a major decision, the RTMNU’s Board of Examination (BoE) decided that from now onwards the degrees would carry photographs of the students, their signatures and the QR Code (Quick Response Code). The decision was taken in the meeting of BoE held on Tuesday. The BoE move will totally eliminate any chances of preparing fake degrees thus providing the much needed credibility and transparency.

Similarly, the meeting of the Board of Examination of Rashtrasant Tukdoji Maharaj Nagpur University took several decisions pertaining to new examination pattern to be followed from now onwards as a part of overall reforms. Also, QR Code will be mentioned in the degrees consisting the scanned profile, enrollment numbers and other details.

The QR Code is bio-matrix code that will contain the photos of the students and other details which will be very helpful to the students during their jobs in multinational companies. Most crucially this will totally eliminate chances of fake degrees, said RTMNU Vice Chancellor Dr Vilas Sapkal.

The report of the Nagpur University’s Disciplinary Action Committee (DAC), which was gathering dust for the last one year, has also been accepted by the University’s Board of Examination (BoE).

The BoE also discussed issues of monitoring of revaluation, valuation and moderation of papers. The issue of Sandhya Chunodkar Handa indicted for committing malpractice and misusing her powers to increase marks of her son’s paper during re-totalling was also discussed. The BoE suggested strict action against the accused. Dr Vilas Sapkal informed that legal opinion will be sought on the issue and strict action will taken after she is found guilty of malpractices.
