Nagpur News.

Now, the BA-LLB degree will be of six years instead of five years. According to the fresh directives issued by University Grants Commission (UGC), the BA-LLB degree will be given after six years. Till now, joint degree of BA-LLB — three years of BA and three years of LLB – was given in five years.

According to experts, the move will directly affect country’s traditional colleges and 15 National Law Universities where one year LLM and 5-year Integrated LLB courses were being run. The UGC has done away with the exemption given in integrated course. Till now, students doing integrated course in any subject were reaping the benefit of one year. According to UGC directives, graduates of any steam can do LLB. Subsequently, LLM course will be of two years again. For LLM admissions, post-graduation will be must. Earlier in 2013, Government had made LLM period of one year. And this rule was being followed by RTMNU from the beginning.
