Notorious burglar nabbed by Sakkardara cops

Nagpur: Sakkardara police rounded up a notorious burglar who was involved in a series of house-breaking thefts at many places including Nagpur, Pune, Nashik, Chandrapur and other cities.

The accused, Nandu Pardeshi Atram (31), native of Soniya Nagar, Navin Vasti, Rajura, District Chandrapur, had adopted a novel modus operandi to commit thefts. He would ride a cycle-rickshaw at day time and would sleep in the rickshaw. Later, in the midnight, on the pretext of collecting garbage, the accused carried a bag containing tools used for house-breakings. The notorious burglar targeted cooler ducting and ventilators to gain entry into houses or shops and then decamp with valuables.

Sakkardara police were probing a theft case in which cash Rs 1.90 lakh and three mobile phones worth Rs 6,000 were stolen from the complainant Nitish Ashokkumar Wadhwani’s Maharaja Garments Shop at Sakkardara Square in the intervening night of December 7 and 8.

The probe was being conducted by PSI Santosh Ingle and his team. The team scanned local CCTV cameras, COC cameras and other technology to track down the burglar. During the probe, cops received a tip-off that the accused was the notorious burglar Nandu Atram. But he had left Nagpur and was hiding in Chandrapur. Subsequently, the team of cops went to Chandrapur and in a well planned operation, nabbed the burglar. During the grilling, the accused Nandu Atram confessed to targeting Maharaja Garments, Ambassador Bar and Restaurant, Wine Palace at Sakkardara Square, Khushi Collections and Himalaya Traders at Mangalmurti Square. Cops have seized Rs 1.43 lakh cash, three mobile phones, three Set Top Boxes of UCN, a UPS and other stolen goods.

The arrest was made by Senior PI Dhananjay Patil, API Sagar Awhad, PSI Santosh Ingle, and other staff including Prakash Wankhede, Ramesh Palthe, Manoj Dwivedi, Govind Deshmukh, Manoj Dhole, Kishore Hate, Deepak Tarekar and Mithun Naik under the guidance of DCP Zone 4 Nurrol Hasan and ACP Nilesh Palve.
