Non-NET UGC fellowship to continue for research-work: Irani

Allaying all confusions over scholastic issue, Human Resource Development Minister Smriti Irani met agitating students late on Thursday and assured them that non-NET fellowship will not be discontinued, informed sources.

Students were told that HRD ministry had directed the UGC not to discontinue the scheme.

The students were also informed that the ministry had constituted a committee under the chairmanship of Gautam Barua, former director, IIT, Guwahati to bring the benefits and opportunities of the non-NET fellowship scheme to a larger number of universities, including state universities.
