Just last week, HMD Global started rolling out the Android 9 Pie update for the Nokia 3.1 and now the Nokia 5.1 has been be updated as well, as expected. HMD chief Juho Sarvikas announced on Twitter that the Nokia 5.1 is now on receiving the latest Android 9 Pie update. With that, the company inches closer and closer to updating its entire portfolio of Nokia phones to Android Pie. The Nokia 3 and Nokia 1 are the only devices that have to receive Pie.

The Nokia 5.1 joins HMD’s ever-growing list of Nokia phones on Android Pie that includes the Nokia 7 Plus, Nokia 6.1 Plus, Nokia 5.1 Plus, Nokia 7.1 and pretty much every other Nokia smartphone launched since 2017, which is a pretty impressive feat. The Android Pie OTA update should reach every Nokia 5.1 owner over the next few days. If you own a Nokia 5.1, you should see an update notification soon, or you can manually check for it in Settings > About phone > System updates.

The Android Pie update for the Nokia 5.1 will bring features like new gesture navigation, Adaptive Brightness, Adaptive Battery, App Slices, App Actions and Digital Wellbeing, among other things. The update should also bring the March Android security patch as well. Unfortunately, we don’t have the official changelog to know the exact details about the new update.

The Nokia 5.1 was launched at Rs 12,499 in India but has since received several price cuts and is currently available for Rs 10,999. The Nokia 5.1 brings a 5.5-inch FHD+ IPS LCD display with an 18:9 aspect ratio. It is powered by a an octa-core MediaTek MT6755S SoC coupled with 3GB of RAM. The device is also offered with 32GB of internal storage with support for expandability and ships with Android 8.0 Oreo.

The Nokia 3 and Nokia 1 are expected to get updated to Android Pie in Q2 2019 as per HMD’s roadmap. Separately, the Nokia 8.1 and Nokia 5.1 Plus have started receiving new updates that bring the March security patch.
