No respite from chain-snatching; yet another woman targeted in Laxmi Nagar

Nagpur: The menace of chain-snatchers is rising rapidly in the second capital. In yet another chain-snatching incident, a married woman was relieved of her gold chain and mangalsutra worth Rs 60,000 while she was riding pillion with her husband on Thursday. The case was registered by Pratap Nagar police.

According to information, Pratima Shrikant Mategaonkar (53), a resident of Govind Bhavan, Bajaj Nagar, was riding pillion with her husband on his Kinetic (MH 31 /5084) at around 11 pm on Thursday. Two unidentified motorcycle-borne youths came from rear at the road heading towards in front of the road at Aath Rasta Square, in front of Govardhan Bunglow, Laxmi Nagar. The pillion rider snatched away a gold chain and a mangalsutra worn by Pratima that costs Rs 60,000 collectively. Before the couple could raise an alarm, the youths zoom passed them.

Pratap Nagar police have registered an offence under Sections 392 and 34 of the IPC against the chain-snatchers.
