Nagpur: Heatwave conditions have clutched the state of Maharashtra so firm that the state has been baking under 45-degree plus temperature for the last many days. The weather of entire Maharashtra has been dry and temperatures in some districts of Vidarbha have been witnessing soaring mercury levels at 45 degrees or more.

The day temperature of other parts of the state are also above normal and have not reached to an extent of crossing the 40-degree mark. On the other hand, the minimums of Madhya Maharashtra and Konkan are near normal.

Further, we do not expect any weather system over the region which is why, the weather of Maharashtra would continue to remain hot and dry. Heatwave conditions would prevail at parts of Vidarbha for the next 2-3 days.

However, as a trough is extending from Vidarbha to Tamil Nadu, the sky in parts of Vidarbha may become partly cloudy occasionally but no changes in temperature can be expected.

Moreover, Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada may also reel under heatwave like conditions.

Due to heat wave conditions in most parts of Maharashtra, farmers are advised to maintain adequate soil moisture in summer field crops like Paddy, Maize, Groundnut, vegetables and fruits crops as per requirement.

The early sown summer Groundnut, Maize, Jowar and Paddy crops are at maturity, hence the farmers can start harvesting of summer crops during morning and evening hours. Farmers should also continue harvesting of Mango, Orange and Pomegranate and to irrigate fruit and vegetable crops during morning & evening times hours.
