Nagpur: “No power on earth can finish Congress. The party is in blood of people and workers. Congress alone can bring “Acche Din” for common people,” roared the newly appointed MPCC President Ashok Chavan while addressing the workers of the party. Chavan was welcomed and felicitated by Nagpur City Congress Committee at a function organized at Devadia Bhavan. The MPCC President arrived on Saturday morning on maiden tour of Nagpur District.

Chavan further said that the people of the country have a firm opinion that there is no alternative to Congress. “The Governments in State and at Centre are busy in pushing RSS agenda. Winning and losing is part of election. Workers need not disappoint. With the unity, the party can be made stronger and return to power,” said Chavan.

“The Congress MLAs and MPs in Assembly and Lok Sabha respectively will continue to raise issues of people’s concern and national interest. The party will play the role of a constructive opposition and resist the Government from taking any anti-people decision. Congress, by providing legal protection to Adivasis, worked for saving their lands. Similarly, by acquiring lands from big ‘Zamindars, distributed them equally among needy people. But the present Government is planning to acquire lands of poor and give them to corporate. Congress will oppose the present Land Acquisition Bill tooth and nail,” state the MPCC President.

Dwelling on the differences cropping up in party over various issues, Chavan said it is common phenomenon in a big party like Congress. Nothing significant should be read on the personal differences, quipped Chavan.

“Congress Party learned one or other lesson from every defeat in elections. Vidarbha is stronghold of Congress. The region is strength of the party. Our priority will be restore the strength weakened in recent elections. Time has come for Congress leaders and workers to devote for party work in full time and not the part time. Groupism will not be tolerated. The party will have to be strengthened from bottom to top but at the same time no injustice will be meted out the workers,” said Chavan.

Coming down heavily on BJP-Shiv Sena Government in State, Chavan said the Government has become insensitive. It is only misleading the people. The only work the present Government is doing is to put top Congress leaders in trouble in one way or the other, charged the MPCC President.

At the outset, City Congress President Vikas Thakre delivered the introductory speech. Others seated on dais were Nitin Raut, Satish Chaturvedi, Rajendra Mulak, Kamalesh Samarth, Abhijit Vanjari, Kishore Jichkar and others.
