Nagpur News: Passengers travelling by Indigo Airlines may have to alter their itinerary after December 15 as the Mumbai-Nagpur-Mumbai and Delhi-Pune-Nagpur flights are set to be rescheduled. The Maharashtra Airport Development Company (MADC) has sent notices to all the airlines operating from Nagpur to reschedule their flights from December 15 onwards and not to operate any flights between 9.30 am to 4.30 pm as the runway is undergoing ‘resurfacing’.

Speaking to Nagpur Today, Airport Director Anil Kumar said that the 4-km-long-runway has been deteriorated to quite an extent and needs resurfacing. “The work will take almost 6 months to complete and will begin on December 15. The earlier resurfacing was done in 2004 which needs urgent repair now,” he said.

Anil Kumar said that the runway will not be available to any airlines during this period as ‘we have only one runway’. Two flights of Indigo Airlines will be affected apart from some flights of other airlines. However, they will have to go for minor rescheduling, he said.

The entire work is being undertaken by the Maharashtra Airport Development Company and Airport Authority of India and will cost about Rs 26 crores, informed Anil Kumar.
