Nagpur: The NMC’s Zone meeting on Friday witnessed a nasty moment when two BSP Corporators came to blows over “Kursi” (chair). The matter reached the police. On the intervention of the cops, the frayed tempers were cooled down, and the two City Fathers were let off but only after warning of preventive action.

According to reports, the monthly meeting of NMC’s Ashi Nagar Zone was called on Friday afternoon by Zone Chairperson Vandana Chandekar. The meeting was attended by all Corporators representing the Zone including BSP leader in NMC Jitendra Ghodeswar and the suspended party Corporator Jamal Mohammed.

Police said that in the meeting Assistant Municipal Commissioner sat next to Chandekar while Chandekar headed the meeting. When the meeting was in progress, Ghodeswar suddenly stood up and asked the Assistant Municipal Commissioner to vacate the chair for him. This diktat by Ghodeswar enraged Jamal and the duo indulged in war of words. During the wordy duel, the two City Fathers manhandled each other and virtually came to blows. Aghast over the unpleasant development, other Corporators intervened and tried to pacify both.

Reports said that the Corporator Jamal Mohammed asked Ghodeswar to get up as the Commissioner has a seat next to the Chairman and then the two started arguing. Jamal asked Ghodeswar to sit with other Corporators. A scuffle broke out between the two BSP men even as both abused each other. The situation took an ugly turn as supporters of both reached the Zonal Office and created a mess.

As the matter reached Pachpaoli police, a team rushed to the spot and took the two warring Corporators to Police Station. Cops settled the matter but with words of caution to the two Corporators.
