Nagpur: Keeping all the NMC rules and regulations at bay Choudhari Lifestyle Mall has been functioning without a hitch. Despite the mall getting notice from the NMC Fire Department which clearly mentioned flaw and danger due to it, there has been no effort to make proper fire safety arrangements. Choudhari Lifestyle has got two notices till now but no action has been taken. RTI Activist T H Naidu alleged NMC departments’ apathy in this case.
RTI activist T H Naidu on the basis the document acquired under RTI had written a letter to Municipal Commissioner Ashwin Mudgal and complained about flaw on 16 December 2017. He had mentioned in letter that the Choudhari Lifestyle Mall had not acquired No Objection Certificate (NOC). Taking cognisance of the letter Municipal Commissioner had ordered the Town Planning Department to take an action. Soon after this the Department had instructed the Chief Officer of NMC’s Fire Department and Chairman of Laxminagar Zone on 15 Feb 2018 to take appropriate action against the mall.
On receiving the instruction both the department had served a notice to the Lifestyle mall on 12 March 2018. But still till date no action has been taken. Earlier too, on 28 November 2017 a notice was served for flouting the rules. According to Naidu FIR should have been lodged against the mall but the NMC has just served the notice and is passing time.
