NMC unveils name-board of Nagarbhushan Darvhekar Master

Nagpur: In a unique venture, Nagpur Municipal Corporation on Wednesday unveiled a name board in the name of great stage artist Nagarbhushan late Purshottam Darvhekar Master at a square near to his Congress Nagar residence. The name board was unveiled at the hands of Deputy Mayor Satish Holay.

Other dignitaries present on the occasion include Ruling Party Leader Dayashankar Tiwari, former minister Dr Nitin Raut, former MP Gev Awari, Convener of Nagarbhushan Committee and senior Corporator Sunil Agrawal, Prabhag Corporator and Chairman of Water Works Committee Sandeep Joshi, Dhantoli Zone Chairman Sumitra Jadhav, senior literetteur and critic Prakash Edlabadkar, Dr Ranjan Darvhekar, and his 95-year old mother-in-law Akka Shiledar.

At the outset, Deputy Mayor Satish Holay and other dignitaries garlanded the portrait of Darvhekar Master on the occasion of his 17th death anniversary.

Speaking on the occasion, Nitin Raut said that the late Purshottam Darvhekar was one of the shining lights of the city. He created the stage movement from Dhanvate Rang Mandir. The NMC has honoured the great artist by unveiling the name board in his name, Raut said.

Gev Avari said Darvhekar Master was a simple personality. He was a hero for him. NMC has honoured the pride and ‘real hero’ of Nagpur.
