Nagpur: In view of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of ‘Swachha Bharat’, the Nagpur Municipal Corporation is undertaking various programmes from October 2 under the Swachha Bharat Mission.’ In this respect, the Mayor Pravin Datke convened a meeting of all Assistant Commissioners and Zonal Health Officers and directed them to implement cleanliness drive vigorously from Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti (October 2) across the city. The Mayor further said that cooperation of all MLAs, Zone Chairmen and Corporators in respective zones should be sought while undertaking the cleanliness drive. Public participation is also must for the comprehensive campaign, said Datke.
The meeting was also attended by MLC Prof Anil Sole, Ruling Party Leader Dayashankar Tiwari, Chairman of Health Committee Devendra Meher, Additional Deputy Commissioner Jayant Dandegaonkar, Deputy Director Health Dr Milind Ganvir, all Assistant Commissioners of zones, Zonal Health Officers and others.
In the first stage of Swachha Bharat campaign the focus will be on cleanliness of offices, premises, gardens, hospitals etc. Public awareness on cleanliness of premises, public toilets, statues and other important places will be created. In the second stage, cleanliness of rivers, lakes and tanks, garbage heaps at public places, Government buildings, removal of useless furniture, unnecessary records would be undertaken.
On October 2, the Mayor Datke, Deputy Mayor Munna Pokulwar, Chairman of Standing Committee Ramesh Singare, Municipal Commissioner Shravan Hardikar will pay tributes to Mahatma Gandhi at Variety Square to mark beginning of cleanliness drive. All voluntary organizations, activists of different political parties, traders, journalists, teachers, and citizens have been requested by the Mayor to participate in Swachha Bharat Mission in large numbers and make the city a clean and beautiful city.
