NMC to honour great personalities of city

Mayor Pravin Datke on Saturday reviewed the proposal to honour great personalities who once resided or are still residing in the city. The proposal is aimed at enlightening the present generation about the outstanding services rendered by these great personalities that would continue to inspire the coming generations. The proposal, which had got budgetary provisions, would honour the outstanding souls by putting name boards at their residences prominently.

Notably, Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar, Dr Hedgewar, Golwalkar Guruji, Poet Suresh Bhat, theatre artist Mohan Kothiwan, Kavi Anil, Raja Badhe, Poet Grace among others once stayed in the city and made it proud by their valued works.

The Mayor directed the concerned officials to inspect the places and make arrangements for adorning the residences with attractive and beautiful name boards befitting the stutus of Orange City.

The Mayor Datke also reviewed other development proposals and projects in the city. The review meeting was attended among others by Deputy Mayor Munna Pokulwar, Chairman of Standing Committee Ramesh Singare, Ruling Party Leader Dayashankar Tiwari, Additional Commissioner Dr Rizwan Siddique, Superintending Engineer Prakash Urade, NMC Secretary Harish Dubey, Chief Accounts and Finance Officer Madan Gadge, City Engineer Manoj Talewar and others.
