NMC readies for grand Yoga Day prog on June 21

Nagpur: The World Yoga day will be celebrated on June 21. Various programmes will be held across the country to mark the event. The Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) is also gearing up for the programme to be organised at Yashwant Stadium on June 21.

Surprisingly, due to rainy season, only standing and sitting position Yoga will be performed. For this training by various Yoga groups have also started. To give uniformity to the programme , there will be a dress code for all. The people coming to perform the yoga will have to wear white dress.

Cheif minister Devendra Fadnavis and Union minister Nitin Gadkari wil also grace the occassion at Yashwant stadium. The programme will be conducted between 6.15 am and 7.50 am, informed mayor Pravin Datke in press conference on tuesday.

Datke further informed that Yoga is not only famous in the country but world around also. Yoga is very beneficial for keeping good health. The programme on June 21 is organised to spread the importance of Yoga. Many organisations have started giving Yoga training. There will be free bus services from various parts of the city to yashwant stadium on the occasion of Yoga Day, he added.

Datke further informed that Yashwant stadium has a 1.25 lakh square feet space and it can facilitate about 21,000 people. If needed space has also been prepared outside stadium.

The preparations for the programme are being done under the guidance of Janardhan Swami Yogabhyasi Mandal. Volunteers from various organisations are associated with the programme, which include NCC-5,500, Art of Living-5,000, Prajapati Brahmakumari-1,500, Gayatari Parivar-1,500, RPTS, CRPF and various other organsations.
