NMC-OCW’s consumer-friendly services in Amnesty Scheme from July 17 to Aug 7

Water Consumers, especially the elderly citizens and women will no more have to go long way to zonal offices to pay their dues during Amnesty Scheme period of July 17 to August 7. Reason, NMC – OCW has now decided to reach at their door step by setting up additional payment counters in five zones.

It may be mentioned here, Nagpur Municipal Corporation has planned an Amnesty Scheme for water tax defaulters from July 17 to August 7, providing them another opportunity to clear their dues and any stern action.

Orange City Water (OCW) partner of Nagpur Municipal Corporation has also planned some consumer friendly initiatives during the period like opening additional counters at Laxminagar Zone (Trimurti Nagar Water Tank), Dharampeth (Dabha Water Tank), Dhantoli (Mahavir Wachnalaya (Libreary), Neharu Nagar (Nandanvan Water Tank) and Satranjipura (Satranjipura Zone NMC office)

All Zonal payment counters will also remain open on Sundays to facilitate the consumers for payment from 8 am to 5 PM.

Another initiative that has been taken up by NMC-OCW is separate Cheque Drop box will be installed in Dharampeth, Laxminagar, Mangalwari and Hanuman Nagar for payment convenience of the consumers. As a pilot project this facility will be provided till Amnesty Scheme period in 4 zones only. However later on Check Drop Box facility will be provided in every zone.

In this consumers can drop the Cheque by writing their Contract Account number on back side of Cheque with the Mobile number, and consumer will be intimated via SMS after receipt of cheque.

More Amnesty Scheme (OTS)awareness activities for consumers initiated by NMC-OCW:
SMS & Automatic Voice Call for the high value water tax consumers will be done 3 times during Amnesty scheme period while Tele-calling will be done for high value commercial & residential consumers from NMC-OCW call center.

Push SMS facility to consumer in which by sending the Contract account number on 56161 OTS payable amounts will be intimated to the consumer.

Lok-Adalat witnesses resolution of 23 major cases:
The Amnesty scheme 2017 is not the first time OCW is providing whole-hearted to NMC’s initiative. Recently, NMC held Lo-Adalat for resolution of pending cases regarding water bills. OCW supported this initiative and resolved 23 major cases to the satisfaction of concerned citizens.

K M Dhwale of Dharampeth zone was having an outstanding of Rs. 1.4 lacs as he was billed on average & was disconnected in 2016. The consumer provided proof of actual disconnection done in year 1999 & same was acknowledge by NMC staff hence the case was finally settled for Rs. 17,520/-

H V Ahuja of Ashinagar zone was also having an outstanding of Rs.98,700/- after due verification his case was settled for Rs. 11,131/-

Nehrunagar zone’s F Nimje is having an outstanding of Rs. 32,800/- but the consumer claimed of paying regularly. The Judge has asked the delegate to verify & if the consumer’s claim is found correct the outstanding will be waive off completely.

Thus, with initiatives like Lok-adalat and Amnesty Scheme, NMC keeps looking after the welfare of citizens and OCW, being a ‘Partner’ extends complete support to NMC.

NMC-OCW has requested citizens to co-operate and take maximum benefits of the upcoming Amnesty scheme.
