NMC-OCW snaps water supply of 475 illegal consumers in a month

Beware illegal consumers!!! Especially, those who are illegally fetching water without legal/ metered water connection or people who are receiving water supply from two water supply lines (double lines) at their residences.

After giving opportunities and reminders many times, now the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) and Orange City Water (OCW) have started massive disconnection drive against illegal consumers as well as those consumers who have double line connections, all over city (In all 10 zones).  The drive which started in last week of November 2015, wherein in a stern action NMC-OCW disconnected 475 household illegal connections as well as disconnected 208 double lines (till December 18).

NMC-OCW disconnected 58 illegal consumers from Laxmi Nagar zone, 37 from Hanuman Nagar Zone, 23 from Dhantoli zone, 140 from Nehru Nagar zone, 44 from Gandhibagh, 16 from Satranjipura, 56 from Lakadganj, 98 from Asi Nagar and 3 from Mangalwari zone.

Similarly 208 double line connections are also disconnected 18 from Laxmi Nagar zone, 19 from Hanuman Nagar, 22 from Dhantoli, 6 from Nehru Nagar, 9 from Gandhibagh, 24 from Satranjipura, 63 from Lakadganj, 4 from Asi
Nagar, 6 from Dharampeth and 37 from Mangalwari zone during the drive. Focusing on the thousands of unregistered (illegal) water connections in the city, NMC and Orange City Water Pvt. Ltd. will conduct such disconnection drive every day in each zone.

It may be recalled here that to bring all these illegal consumers back in legal network, earlier, NMC-OCW had recently conducted a special drive to regularize unregistered water connections during 1st to 31st July. After receiving minimum response from people, the drive was then extended till August 15.

OCW illegle water supplyDuring drive OCW-NMC had appealed unregistered water consumers to co-operate with the officials approaching them for regularization. Also, if the officials have not yet approached, then to visit nearest zone office with necessary documents and get the connection regularized. In addition, during 1st July to 15 th August, camps at various locations across 10 zones of the city were also organised to provide facility at the doorsteps of people.

Meanwhile, NMC-OCW has appealed the consumers to extend necessary cooperation to the officers visiting them for regularization. Also, if they have not yet been approached by any of the officers, they should contact their respective zone office and submit the necessary documents to get the unauthorized connections regularized.

It must be mentioned here, having an authorized/registered water connection is a matter of pride for every vigilant citizen. NMC and OCW officials have requested the citizens of Nagpur to co-operate during these drives and grab
this golden opportunity to get the connections regularized.

OCW-NMC has appealed citizen/ consumers to pay the water bill on scheduled time to avoid any kind of inconvenience or problems.
