Water Supply to remain affected in Mangalwari Zone, Gandhibagh, Dharampeth & Laxmi Nagar Zone on July 22
Nagpur: The Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) & The Orange City Water (OCW) has started 48-hours repair and maintenance work at Pench-II water treatment plant (WTP) in full swing. Raw water pumping was totally stopped on July 21 morning while clear water pumps were stopped at about 10 am.
It may be mentioned here, along with, planned Pench-II WTP rehabilitation work, NMC- OCW have also planned some major field works to strengthen the water supply system in the field like: Interconnection between 500mm line Trimurti Nagar line with 700mm Takli Sim Line. This will benefit in commissioning of new Trimurti Nagar ESR and resolve low pressure water supply issues at Sonegaon, Adarsh Colony , Bhoge layout & Bhamti area. Air Valve on GH-Omkar Nagar Feeder: Installation of Air Valves (2 Nos.) at Morris College T-Point and Resimbagh Sq. This will benefit in resolving the frequent air locking problems of the GH-Omkar feeder main.
While the planned rehabilitation work at Pench-II WTP during this shutdown are as follows: Flash Mixer Inlet gate erection, Flash Mixer By pass gate erection, Repairing of filter Inlet gate No.7,8,9. Demolition of water retaining structure at raw water Inlet channel and pipe (B) Telescopic bleeding arrangement of Clarifier No. 1 & 2. Installation of 400 mm FM and two 400mm B/F Valves of Raw water inlet line. Weir Plate of filter bed no.10,11,12 erection Benefits : The process part of Rehabilation of P-II WTP will be completed. Ultimately the augmentation of P-II will benefit Dhabha ESR command area and Seminary Hill old GSR and new ESR. After augmentation of P-II the Old Gorewada WTP will be abandonned and the 450mm feeder line(which is prone to leakages due to dilapidated condition) from OG to Katia Bhandar will be discarded.
It may be mentioned here in a bid to provide Nagpurians maximum relief, NMC & OCW bulk water supply management technical experts have divided the areas affected due to shut down into two parts. Because of this bulk management , even though the planned shutdown work at Pench-II WTP shall be for 48-Hrs (on July 21 & 22 ) but effectively each of the listed areas water supply shall be affected for 24-Hrs only. However, it must be mentioned here, during this shutdown other water treatment plants like Pench- I, Pench- III, Old Gorewada, Pench-IV at Godhani and Kanhan WTP will remain fully operational means water supply in those areas will not be affected.

NMC-OCW further appealed citizens to store sufficient water for their use. Water supply through Tankers will also be not possible during the shutdown period.
The inconvenience that will be caused due to only 24-hours affected supply conditions on July 21 & 22 is deeply regretted.
