NMC health inspector trapped in ACB net

Despite a lot of awareness created against corruption, certain incorrigible incumbents cannot desist themselves from doing wrong. In one of such incidents, 35-year-old Khilawan Gunaram Lanjewar, a health inspector holding additional charge of Hanuman Nagar Zone of NMC, got trapped in ACB net on November 20, 2015 (7.35 am) red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 3000 from the complainant.

The complainant is a 48-year-old lay sweeper working with Nagpur Municipal Corporation. Reportedly she had remained absent form her work for a month under NMC. She wanted to get rid of loss of wages of a month-long absence, and thus her name was to be shown on enrollment as present on roll. The said health inspector Lanjwar demanded from her a bribe of Rs 4000 on Nov 19, at about 6.35 am for verification and doing favour to her.

Unwilling to pay the demanded sum of money, the woman bargained and somehow the deal was arrived at Rs 3000.
She accordingly intimated the ACB sleauths who then laid a trap to nab the culprit. As per plan, Lanjewar was caughted red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 3000 at 7.35 am at Jammudeep Nagar under Ayodhya Nagar here in the city.

The police action was executed by PI Manoj Gabhane and his team. A case has been registered against him. Further investigation is underway.
